i remember the first time you made me play chess you were dressed in a faded cravat with your hat tilted just to one side and you smiled as you knocked each pawn dead and said désolé scraping the rust off my old high-school french on a bench in the park i'd try to make sense how a gent from paris came to be here in boring old melbourne 'we all have our ghosts' was the most you would say waving questions away with a kindly but firm désolé désolé, désolé, désolé then came the virus to lock us inside and we try not to speak of the people who died it was natural, they say to just wither away all alone all alone, mon ami all alone, et je suis désolé so i'm leaving this pawn at the edge of your grave in the shade of a headstone which i like to think is your last little wink, bearing only one word: désolé désolé, désolé, désolé

Searching and praying for a better life The money, yeah, the money is the key Working and struggling, barely getting by So tell yourself a lie: I’m free Capital… x8 Grinding and hustling, make it on the side The money, it’s the money that you need Earning, returning, pennies on the dime Compounding over time from greed to pride Capital… x8 Time is turning, the years are passing by The money, it's becoming all you see Searching and praying for a better life You’ll find it when you die Donations in your name Some legacy to leave Some reason for it all Some better way to be…
3.
(Please… Please?) You got a hold on me, my friend. Find my feet, You put me right back on my knees again. No matter how it starts, We both know this is how it ends:c I come to you, You pull me through, Before you do, I know you’ll make me beg you… Please? Please… You make a fist around my heart. Pull me down - My desperation is your work of art. You drive me to the edge And I know when the pressure starts That I will bleed For what I need. You’ll take the lead, And I will beg you for it … Please? Please…
4.
<verse> I never could get my words straight Paving over my thoughts I never could tell all my flightest fancies From the voices of gods And I've tried to hold the future Always trying to keep control Never know what I wanted Enough to let it go <prechorus> But you, oh you Tell me it'll be alright You, only you You make it all go quiet, and I <chorus> Sigh... <verse2> It's like a choir singing A holy melody The breath inside my lungs The song you're pulling out of me And I never saw it coming The quiet rumbling from below Whoever thought I could be good With "I don't know" <prechorus> But you, oh you You never left my side And you, only you You make it all go quiet, and I <chorus> Sigh... <bridge> Thought I could have it all Ooh how I wanted it all Maybe I had it all, I had it all? *sigh* <solo/chorus out>
5.
take the wind out breathe in and hold it open you up and predict your future are we through? and wishing they would just say…. yeah Is there something or is it nothing? holding you and redact my feelings keep it tight when the fuck will they come back and just say…. yeah Breathe in it’s an anniversary you don’t celebrate Hold it it’s a ghost that comes to haunt you in year number eight Breathe in the rising pressure has your measure and you start to fade Hold it you ask me if I’m here forever and you hear me say... yeah
6.
We met up on a whim But I could see myself with him If I only knew who I was Or who I was gonna be We played a game and we won We scratched our heads and had some fun And did it again, just because We had the time free Let’s get together sometime soon Maybe spend the afternoon Take a quick trip in my car And get a little bit of sun How do we identify Well I don’t really mean to pry Just wanna know what we are Or who we’re trying to become Don’t get me wrong I’ve had a wonderful time But I can’t help but feel that some thing’s not quite right Awkward… You’re becoming quite the man But I hope you’ll understand When I say I need to leave And it’s truly not your fault You’ve got a lot of time to grow And I really just don’t know What’s expected of me And I don’t know the default Make no mistake I really care for you a lot But I can’t pretend to be someone that I’m not Awkward… I never went back to the place we met But I’m forever grateful we’re still friends Even if we’re Awkward.
7.
The weight of aging keeps gaining traction From mortgage loans to the great beyond I find myself tired no energy for taking action I need time to recharge before I respond. I thought you were someone on whom I could rely, but you lied I thought I had someone special a true ally, I was denied I think it's time I take some respite and head to the countryside All alone but that’s okay Unplug from the endless chattering that won’t subside Retreat to my Hideaway Hideaway Hideaway Hideaway The world in chaos won’t help finding balance I try to shut it out, but just can’t do it anymore Focusing on love and hope are unlearned talents Enough of this never-ending internal tug-of-war I’ve been planning to disappear and head out west somewhere A rental cottage in the trees You could come along and stay with me if you’d care Can’t you just see our Hideaway Hideaway Hideaway Hideaway Hideaway Hideaway Hideaway Hideaway
8.
I thought you were a message from afar I needed more than another cheap cigar You were tumblin' from star to star As I stumbled in to another bar Looping around a brilliant sun I thought you were gonna be the one But you hurt me so bad I could never trust again You severely let me down A dust bunny in our solar system Oumuamua Oumuamua Oumuamua Ou... Oumuamua Oumuamua Oumuamua Your name... it sounded like a kiss But your heart is ice you overblown obelisk You left a trail too small for me to see You nearly fooled them all but the biggest fool was me Oumuamua Oumuamua Oumuamua Ou... Oumuamua Oumuamua Oumuamua You hurt me so bad I could never trust again You severely let me down A dust bunny in our solar system Oumuamua Oumuamua Oumuamua Ou... Oumuamua Oumuamua Ou.........muamua
9.
A list of all the lists we've written that have gone ignored We wrote down all the places we wanted to see, at home and abroad A list of all the promises made that I won't get to keep A record of missed opportunities that I can't complete Alone A list of the appointments we didn't want to keep The revolving doors of doctors trying to keep us on our feet A list of all the words that people should never have to hear A catalogue of things I've tried to drink down. When you're not here I'm Alone We don't need to be afraid We can make it through the day Because I have found a way Write a list and plan the fear away A list of all the lists we've written and I'm left wondering why and a single word I never wanted to say to you goodbye
10.
A million little droplets fall (From) the windowsill I watch them all But I'm still stuck inside Days when Dylan thrives Distant noises from the kitchen The smell of baking bread Did you notice that I'm missing Lost inside my head Lost lost lost Everything I've got to share Is in a state of disrepair Upwards from the floor Is it enough to be ignored And every day's a struggle To keep your mouth above the waves So we'll sing the songs of others And fall asleep in an embrace Lost lost lost Did you notice that I'm missing Overly relaxed position Did you notice that I'm Living in my head Lost lost lost
11.
Désirée Only just out of reach My heart’s desire, please, I beseech You, look my way, You are the sun’s soft rays Warming the beach On a cloudless day Take my hand Don’t pull away Understand I’m here to stay Désirée Slipping just out of sight My heart’s on fire, you have ignited A flame at my core What I’ve never felt before Gives me a fright Of what’s in store Take my hand I will be brave Understand You are what I crave Désirée Take my heart Broke and betrayed What's fallen apart Can still be remade Take my life And we can reclaim Darkest night With the sound of your name Désirée
12.
You got me pinned to the wall Trapped like a rat By a dark red ball You got me so dead to rights Leg before wicket Plum dead in the light I was just getting comfortable Expressing myself Everything going wonderful Till second-guessing myself Dismissed! Dismissed! Dismissed! You got me hooked on a line Pulling me out In the prime of my life My toe just over the crease Knocked off the bails I’m pissed and deceased You did me dirty like a Romanov One step early and The bails are off Didn’t hear any warning you gave Mankad smiles In his grave I was just getting comfortable Expressing myself Everything going wonderful Till second-guessing myself Dismissed! Dismissed! Dismissed! One word and all eyes on the old man’s hand One shout and I am sent back to the stand I was just getting comfortable Expressing myself Everything going wonderful Till second-guessing myself Dismissed! Dismissed! Dismissed!

<verse> It's like a cancer homegrown in the soul A creeping feeling of a lack of self control Curiously difficult to be rational about I let it drive too long And now I'm spinning out <chorus> Predestination 3x <verse...?> Caught looking on the carousel The motion blurred my eyes Flashing lights and ringing bells Who put me on this ride They say time is a turning wheel Point me towards the player's stage Or shoot me in the heart We're warmed over cadavers If someone else picks our part They say time's a turning wheel And we're all walking on crushed heels <chorus> Predestination 3x <solo> <chorus> Predestination 3x <coda> If time is a turning wheel Can the turning stop or slow If time is a turning wheel Could it leave us on the road
15.
Intro: Silence echoes in the halls Memories fade like a waterfall Shadows dance on empty walls Echoing sounds of distant calls Verse 1: I’m trying to hold on on, but I’m losing my grip I’m trying to stay strong, as I watch myself slip I’m trying to find a way, a single shred of light But as I sing this song, I know you’re… Chorus: Free, free Verse 2: The wind it howls and moans, like my aching soul A blanket of grey shrouds everything I know As I slip away My only saving grace, I hear your… Intro Revisited: Silent echoes in the halls Memories fading like a waterfall Shadows dancing on empty walls Echoing sounds of distant calls Chorus: Free, free
16.
You, you’re never satisfied Look at what you’ve got Sharing’s not your style You only want the lot Why accept a slice When you can have it all Nothing’s out of reach It’s all available You don’t give damn What any of it costs There aren’t any lines That you won’t step across Its not enough For you to wipe the floor You always have to push things one step more……moar The limits don’t apply The rules are there to break Ignore what’s gone before The history books are fake The only law Is the jungle kind The biggest will survive And the rest get left behind No you don’t mind a fight Slinging round the mud Best not to have a heart When they’re out for your blood And every time it seems You’ve nothing left in store You’re always coming up With something more…..moar

V1 We'd tend the yard, when I was just a child Chopped bamboo that grew indignantly from barren city ground the looper sliced it up but it grew back out like the plague and the Hague would be full from the crimes we committed against those weeds in this summer's heat The sun was shining on a deck browning with age Groaning as steps grew heavier on our ever-stretching days But it's just grass now It's not our house, anymore I still remember the sticky swelling Of our old front door PCH Please take me CH Home Home V2 Today inside me there's still a light, but it doesn't shine [near] half as bright, as those days I was small and the world still new, not worse for the wear of it all Now I hold on tightly, hands clench a desperate fist upon the last winter candle, shining dim into the mist of all the Meetings and the Mondays and the other M-named horrors and I just want to run away out to the shore where I learned how to swim like the wild, wild ocean waves I miss those days, footsteps on wet sand Don't know where they'll land but the others already long, long gone PCH Please take me CH Home Home BR I pray when I'm old that the light won't go out But my carelessness means that I'm counting my doubts before they hatch, Cup my hands round a tiny match in my heart, This is how it starts, and how it ends. PCH Please take me CH Home Home Outro Please take me Home
18.
V1 Our bottle rocket dreams were sparkling so bright When we were young and shooting at the moon Blue collar kids trying to help each other climb Maybe get a peek inside the secret room PC But that was not enough Didn’t know how much it all was gonna take Turned out…they were gonna need some blood Chorus: Unforgivable…unforgivable…unforgivable V2 Slogging through the bush like gorillas in the mist With hearts as tough as leather bandoliers Will there be anything still left back in the world To pay us back for giving up these years PC And then there’s all the rest The stuff we’ll never talk about Turned out…we had a taste for blood Chorus: Unforgivable…unforgivable…unforgivable No taps blown for the ones we never found No absolution for the damage done What kind of fucking god could bless the barrel of a gun Break Chorus Unforgivable…unforgivable…unforgivable

El arbol no exige nada del sol Y el alma no exige nada del agua Y aun así se dan los regalos Y aun así el amor nos encontramos The tree demands nothing of the sun And the soul demands nothing of water And even so the gifts are given And even so we find love Amor (x4) El mar no exige nada de la luna Y las playa aceptan olas cada una Y aun así se sueltan cada vez Y aun así la luna se llena cada mes The sea demands nothing of the moon And the beaches accept every wave And even so they released in each time And even so the sun fills herself each month Amor (x4) Existe los regalos cada día cada año Entre momentos dificultados Podemos encontrarnos En el amor The gift exist Each day each year Even between difficult moments We find ourselves In love Existe los regalos Cada día cada año Amor (x4) Amor (x4) Existe los regalos Amor

Hays Berry lived in Grafton, West Virginia back during the Great Depression He was out of a job and he was looking for worth, he was strong and skilled and he knew his worth He was a man of real integrity no question So he smiled really big when he got himself a gig working for the Army Corps of Engineers $2.50 an hour, flood control and hydropower and a water reservoir at Tygart Dam Dam. Dam dam dam dam. People came from near and far, laying concrete and rebar for this mighty infrastructure operation To turn a river to a lake; well that just ain't a piece of cake. A brand new dam's a tricky installation Hays bust his bottom every day, dredging silt and moving clay, roughing up the calluses upon his hands Smoothing out the new foundation, building water conservation, all of this and more down at the dam Dam dam dam dam. Dam dam dam dam. Dam. Dam dam dam dam. Hays woke up in the night, he was a pallid ghostly white, for in his sleep he saw a vision of death. Told his wife about his vivid dream, how horrifying and extreme, after taking a moment or two to catch his breath She said Hays honey if you're troubled so, just stay with me and please don't go. I'll make us both some hashbrowns eggs and ham He turned down her offer for a meal, told himself that dreams weren't real, put on his coat and went back to the dam. Dam dam dam dam. Dam dam dam dam. It felt like just just another day, with grueling work and decent pay while the hydroproject neared its grand finale. The dam was getting close to done, the hardest battle had been won, the mighty river had been tamed in Tygart Valley Hays was pouring some cement when there was an accident, the poor man was knocked backward by a crane Pushed him down to the rocks below and for young Hays that was all she wrote. He died falling off the dam Dam dam dam dam. Dam dam dam dam. Dam. Dam dam dam dam. They sent a man to tell his wife the news that Hays had lost his life. "He's gone. I'm sorry ma'am". She hung her head forward as she cried, then she raised her arms and cursed the sky and with everything inside She said "damn". Dam. Dam dam dam dam. Dam. Dam dam dam dam.

Sober - Home 02:47
Is there a reason Selection keeps correcting itself Picking bottles from the bottomest shelf Among all the watered down wells The world around us Is constructed for extraction of wealth You'd think that instinct for preserving ourselves Would stop us making it hell Home You're pulling duty At the edge of in and out of the field They said that you would be the sword and the shield A once beloved face turning heel These are the stories The posters sell the desperate poor Numbers on a quarterly report An empire on life support Home We can't afford to be neutral on this train We've only got the one anyway Home
22.
No. That’s a no from me, bro: a pretty bad stab at a pretty bad show. No. ‘Cause you’re sad and wrong, with your really bad take on a really bad song Let’s try; we can still work with what we have, if we just add an arp and clav We can take it from blah to meh As we work our way up to: Yeah [repeated] Pass. That’s a hard, hard pass, ‘cause life is much too short to waste on listenin’ to trash. Pass. ‘Cause your sound is stale we’ll skip over to Sober now ‘cause “pass” means “fail” therefore, we’ll add whistles and bells and more but that won’t take you to Round 4 We’ll get further away from “nah” As we work our way up to: Yeah [repeated] An arpeggiator and a clav, plus some backing vocals, guitarmonies and plinky keys, riffs and countermelodies. Yeah [repeated]
23.
[Verse 1] Lost inside a dreamy world, walking down the street Suddenly I'm paralyzed, my heart skips a beat Slimy scales and squirmy tails and eyes of vibrant green These terrifying monsters are strangest thing I've seen [Prechorus] Mystified and fascinated Feelings start to change [Chorus] Strange Strange Strange [Verse 2] They came here from a distant world, you know it must be true Watchin' monster movies up until the morning dew Explorin' haunted mansions and some spooky little towns Monstrous wings wrapped around me deep under the ground [Prechorus] As we dance beneath the moon Our bodies rearrange [Chorus] Strange Strange Strange [Verse 3] They take me on a journey, through the dark and the unknown With my strange and monstrous love, I'll never be alone Cuddlin' creatures goin' bump in the middle of the night Our love is quite unusual, but it feels so right [Prechorus] Forever in each others' claws This love is so deranged [Chorus] Strange Strange Strange [Chorus] Strange Strange Strange

As the seasons march by, we draw close to the fire Wait for someone to say that it’s time to go home To be back in your arms if my heartfelt desire You know my greatest fear is to die here alone War War Now I’m lying awake but I’m so cold and tired I don’t know why we’re here, I can’t tell who has won In a conflict that’s frozen with flames climbing higher Is there time to atone for the things that I’ve done? War War In the depths of despair I discovered the truth No-one’s coming to save, they can’t it’s too late All this talk about freedom is just an excuse Took a look in the mirror, saw eyes filled with hate War War
25.
Feather! Feather! She saw me and she said that she thought I seemed older She hugged me and she said that she thought I looked bolder She kissed me and she whispered that I'm a real soldier I told her: I'm better than the rest Cos there's no feathers in our nest It's Bittersweet And no white feather could ever... She blamed me but we made up until we got sober She framed me but after she let me console her She held me but somehow the whole world it seemed colder colder than the feathers in the sky and the men that made them fly So Bittersweet And no white feather could ever be worth the pain She kissed me and it felt like history She kissed me and it felt a mystery She kissed me and it felt like victory She kissed me and it felt So Bittersweet

Once upon a time Not so very long ago We met, although We’d met before But that was fleeting This time we really Got to know each other You lit up my heart Like a long lost brother With every tick of the clock I check your face It shines with Phosphorescence Once upon a time Not so very long ago I left, although I’d left before But that was fleeting This time I really Put some space between us Then you switched off the light Left life unseen, it seems On every path that I walk I watch the time You fade like Phosphorescence Pulled through the undertow Your siren song calls in the Ebb and the flow And I try to avoid it by Burying my heart below But you tug at its strings And I cannot let go in the Glow of your Phosphorescence

Words escape me, I think maybe It's hard to try define it A quiet grace, A sacred space, and the feeling that's behind it Koenig prescribed words to describe the feelings webster missed of halfway-homes for weathered tomes and their trademark brand of wist; Vellichor There's mystery that lies between these pre-owned leather covers Fantasy and History And the poetry of lovers Excitement yet, some vague regret still lives within these pages And you can feel something that's real passed down throughout the ages Vellichor *Spoken* In every town across this land There lies a crooked street. Buried at its heart, a store Where fate and fortune meet. Wonders await for you inside, A treasure to be shown. In a place you’ve never been before, Yet one you've always known Vellichor

It’s not a cello because you get like a sixth more range on the low end and you get a way more percussive sound in the high register and it always gets in the way when a cello wouldn’t

I had to go car shopping with this damn thing and I had to choose a shitty little Mitsubishi hatchback because of this thing I would've probably bought a ford focus four door but the stupid bass wouldn’t have fit in it
And it’s always getting in my way at home and at gigs but at least the case is large enough that I could sleep in it when I would pull all nighters when I would practice in school.

So repeat after me. It’s not a fucking cello. It’s a mother fucking

Lonely Alexander A native Salamander Lived under a rock In our backyard Little sis and I We loved that guy Searched low and high To find him a bride He’d need a partner, we reasoned To thrive through the seasons Experience the euphoria Of life in California Chorus California, California California, California Verse 2: Lady May was lonesome too Sweet ‘n sassy oh so cute Sis and me could hardly wait For her to meet her mate Lady May had nothing to say When they met that sunny day Alexander, he was shy Was that a twinkle in his eye?
