Stylistically pushing out of my usual “four chords & the truth” alt-country/Americana lane here. Started out with the idea of maybe meshing something country-ish and some light hip-hop, but I also wanted just a touch of dissonance. I then attempted what is the closest I’ve ever come to doing anything like rap. For me, such a wild excursion into overclocked spoken lyrics is totally uncharted waters, so that’s my main idea for meeting the challenge. Lyrics were inspired by the dialogue between a schizophrenic genius math/physics savant character and her analyst in Stella Maris—Cormac McCarthy’s most recent novel.
