Stanza one is from the point of view of a letter written by a newly enlisted soldier who is in the process of getting physically conditioned at boot camp. He reports about the real-life heroism displayed by his brother Conan and the beloved war hero Sergeant Stubby and wait a minute our protagonist is a dog. And he wants to a good war dog.

Stanza two is from the perspective of the soldier's son, who loves to excitedly play army and tell all of his friends about his dad, including Jack, Indy, and Bluey oh hey protagonist two is Rusty, from beloved children's show Bluey and the soldier is Rusty's dad!

I sing the first verse lower than the second and sing the second verse in my falsetto cause Rusty's a kid who just really loves his cool army dad and wants to be just like him.

But wait, there's more! If you listen closely to the bassline in the verses and opening riff, it may sound somewhat familiar. As may the fun rhythmic modulations in the first breakdown. :)
