The links above cover most of the references, but for further context: Verses 2-4 are autobiographical; I took the photos linked. The helicopter photo in the 2nd verse was taken on my 27th birthday. I had my trusty busted-up Martin custom 000 shipped to me, and in my downtime I gave free lessons at the Red Cross complex at Kandahar Air Field (and submitted two songfight songs!). As for the challenge, the chorus push/pull is intended to feel like waking up from a stress dream. I sleep fine these days.
