My given name is indeed Regis, which my father found on an old map of Wyoming. I had the great fortune of fulfilling my lifelong dream of bringing shame and disgrace on my family name by losing on “Jeopardy!” a couple years ago, and my appearance prompted someone to tweet “I thought Regis Philbin was on Jeopardy but its the other Regis. My bad.” Everything in this song is true aside from the suggestion that my accordion was ever dusty (it’s neglected, but stays in the case).
