about

So the Dutch Widows were in this bar having a crafty shandy or three, and a motley bunch of players started up this sea shanty kind of thing about fish that was aggravatingly catchy. The singer told us to pull up a chair, so we did, and we ended up singing along and following this band out of the bar and dancing down the street with them. Sorry to the guy we tripped over on our way out – we were little bit drunk and we didn’t catch his name – but he seemed to be staying in the bar while everyone else was leaving. Each to his own I guess; some people just like to be different and do their own thing.
Anyway, we liked that song so much we thought we’d try our hands at a cover. We decided to mash it up with our favourite fish-based song (The Fish Song by Thin White Rope) to see if we could increase the number of times the word ‘fish’ is sung.
Because we are of limited talent, and because we managed to break our interface just as we started recording so had to get a new one and learn how to use it in a very short period of time, we think we’ve probably destroyed everything about the original that was charming, but c’est la vie. This is a pale shadow of what we heard that night but you can never go back and capture the magic. Peace out.

lyrics

Snorkeling, snorkeling, looking at fish (fish!)
Snorkeling's great if you like to see fish (fish!)
Cuz snorkeling's basically all about fish
Snorkeling, snorkefishorkeling fish!

Snorkeling starts with you looking for fish (fish!)
Then pretty soon you are looking at fish (fish!)
And with them flippers, you're looking like fish
Snorkeling, snorkefishorkeling fish!

(fish!)

Now snorkeling ain't about killin' them fish (fish!)
It ain't about fryin' or grillin' them fish (fish!)
You leave, and them innards is still in them fish
Snorkeling, snorkefishorkeling fish!

Snorkeling lets you have air with the fish (fish!)
You can talk to them cuz you're right there with the fish (fish!)
And talking back's still pretty rare with the fish
Snorkeling, snorkefishorkeling fish!

(fish!) (fish!) (fish!) (fish!)

Some day when you're old and you drink like a fish (fish!)
You'll look back on days when you looked at them fish (fish!)
For so long it was like you were a fish
Snorkeling, snorkeling, snorkeling fish

After four to six minutes of looking at fish (fish!)
You're officially proficient at looking at fish (fish!)
Oh look, there's a fish and a fish and a boot
Hours and hours and hours and hours and

Look it's not hard, you just look at the fish (fish!)
That's the whole point of it, looking at fish (fish!)
You're doing it right if you're looking at fish
Snorkeling, Snorkeling, Snorkeling

Looking at fish
Looking at fish
(fish!)
