I came home one day to find that my daughter had been given some homework to do that others didn't, I think it stuck subconsciously because this happened. The song was heavily inspired by Ben Folds Five. I just finished his autobiography which was fascinating.

I wanted to write a song that was about something shrouded with deceit and negativity and make it something positive and heart warming. I then just had to imply that there was something more than just a student/teacher relationship, because why not.
