Song Bio: My parents are Mike and Kathy. We lost Kathy almost 29 years ago. Mike was never completely mentally sound, but when he lost his wife his mental illness (bipolar manic-depressive) worsened and he became unable to function. This song is a meditation on what it would be like to be him and to lose your mind slowly. Lemmings are followers and will follow to their death. Ken Kesey wrote: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. That film and book made no exaggeration. Those places are really like that. " Kathy I'm Lost" is on one level a nod to Simon and Garfunkel- America, which has a similar descending bass line to this song. Also, Mom's name was literally Kathy, so it was always hard not to imagine my parents with that song. That album was around as long as I can remember.
