In which I cover See-Man-Ski's Round 4 entry - 'Love Is'

It has been observed that I am a fan of 2 chord songs (the truth is, I actually like a third chord a lot of the time, but we shouldn't let the truth get in the way of a good narrative) so it seems only right and proper that if I'm going to record a cover from SpinTunes 18, I should cover something from round 4.

I generally think that a good cover version is something very different form the original (see The Last Town Chorus's cover of 'Modern Love' [https://youtu.be/sAypnmdiCEk], or New Buffalo's take on '4 Seasons In One Day' [https://youtu.be/yOTlsMR9v3c]). With that desire in mind I figured that See-Man-Ski would be a good candidate - there's no way I could sing anything like him. I also appreciated that as a G&P song I should be able to give 'Love Is' my own colour.

I borrowed some ideas from my own R4 entry (which I've just realised I probably borrowed from New Buffalo), slapped them on a 3/4 signature, and had a tilt. Somewhere along the way, Toshiro stepped in to lift this song into a smoother, lusher world.

One thing about covering a song from the community is that I desperately want to respect the original artist - I care deeply about you all, and would hate to make a version of your work that you didn't enjoy.

I don't know if I quite found the promised land I was looking for, but I did find a new interpretation of an already beautiful song.

I just hope it's enough.
