My father was nicknamed Chickadee Bob by his hunting buddies. For some reason chickadees tended to follow him around. He even had a little custom made hat his buddies made him with a little chickadee figurine perched on the brim. But I didn't know much about chickadees at all! I couldn't even identify them by sight or know their call? What kind of self-proclaimed naturalist am I if I can't even identify my dad's favorite bird? So I spent plenty of time learning about the different chickadees that live across North America. Eurasia has chikadees but they call them tits over there. Now I learned a whole bunch about chickadees and maybe you will too! Our local chickadees are the Carolina Chickadees. The other day I watched the clock and noticed that they largely quit singing around 730 am. But then I heard one on my walk around noon so hey maybe chickadees just sing whenever they please.
