Yes, this is a song about my favourite watercolour shade, Opera Rose, and my favourite watercolour brush, the Raphael 8404, exactly like you guessed.

Opera Rose is a fugitive colour. It's fluorescent, and this can't be reproduced by other pigments or by mixing other colours, but that vibrance fades fairly quickly. In part, I like it because it doesn't last. Other artists do not feel the same way, weirdly.

This song is also in part about the way that colour can bounce off things. If you deliberately paint the back of a work, then hang it on the wall so that there's a gap where you can hit it with a beam of light, the colour will reflect back onto the wall, giving your art a halo.
