My immediate instinct for this challenge was that I should start and end with the same line but with different meanings. This sparked the idea of basing the lyrics around homonyms (words that are spelt or pronounced the same but have different meanings). This made me think the word “homonym” is also (kind of) a homonym for hominem, hence the pun in the title. After writing about very specific stories and events in my first two songs, I wanted to come up with something a bit more oblique this time.
