A song about a disintegrating destructive relationship and rethinking previously-acceptable behavioural norms in light of its end. It’s interesting how lots of references to power, morals and ethics use vertical references – is it a heaven/hell thing? Probably. Anyway, I was going for that sort of thing – the narrator’s pulling themselves up and out of their previous baser, lower tendencies.
