Zoe Gray - wonder
03:36
|
|
||
(You ready? Here we go)
I didn’t know the sky
Could sing this shade of blue
I never thought that
I would get to feel something so new
There’s all these songs around
I think they call them birds
There’s something that I want to say
But there are no words
But beyond the constellations and the
Myths from which they’re named
Beyond the seas, there’s you
There’s you, there’s something left untamed
And beyond "do I deserve this"
And beyond what I once knew
Beyond what I have learned and lost
There’s you, there’s you, there’s you
You make me think I’m finally an explorer
My heart screams, oh, the wonder, ah, the horror
You make me shake with– what did you call it?– thunder
My heart screams, oh, the horror, ah, the wonder
(Mm, I'll tell you something)
I didn’t think the seas
Were something that could change
I only ever dreamed of
Smells so fragrant and so strange
There’s something in the night
I think it’s called the moon
There’s something that I want to sing
But I don’t know the tune (tune)
But beyond the plants and minerals
The temperature and size
Beyond all reason, there is you
There’s you, and I can’t analyze
And beyond "do I deserve this?"
And beyond "I never do"
Beyond what I have learned and lost
There’s you, there’s you, there’s you
You make me think I’m finally an explorer
My heart screams, oh, the wonder, ah, the horror
You make me shake with– what did you call it?– thunder
My heart screams, oh, the horror, ah, the wonder
I always said I thought
Rules were there for a reason
But in your world they’re not
So many changes, many seasons
Thought I said
That everything could be weighed out nicely
Now instead
I love you oh so un-precisely
(You know?)
You make me think I’m finally an explorer
My heart screams, oh, the wonder, ah, the horror
You make me shake with– what did you call it?– thunder
My heart screams, oh, the horror, ah, the wonder
You make me think there’s so much here of the tender
My heart screams, oh, the wonder, ah, the splendor
There’s so much here, I only have to look under
My heart screams, oh, the horror, ah, the wonder

hello, I’m your host for this galactic broadcast
the latest episode of my travel podcast
should you plan a visit, or give a wide berth
to a small blue planet that the natives call Earth?
on descent you will notice the scenery
amazing oceans and greenery
but maybe pack your shielding machinery
the natives were a little mean to me
landing at night is probably wise
they have cameras watching the skies
proceed under cloaking, or in a disguise
find a safe place to hide your ship
and you’re ready to start a remarkable trip
don’t expect a friendly welcome; that’s my only tip
once you have landed at your destination
you can try to blend in with the population
this can be tricky, tempers are frayed
it’s generally best to stay out of their way
once you have your bearings there is much to see
this strange planet offers much artistry
amazing feats of music, and writing
these people are great… when they only stop fighting
the culture can be very mind-expanding
but in case there’s any misunderstanding
don’t venture too far from where you made your landing
cos while you start up your translator
they will shoot first and ask questions later
keep your foot on the accelerator
it’s a dangerous place with much death and destruction
and could be considered still “under construction”
in conclusion, I give it five out of ten:
glad I went once… but would not go again

There’s varied hair
And awful clothes
They come in shades and sizes
And accents - so many more of those
It makes me sad to see them fret and scare
For features barely there
Chorus:
Humans seem the same to me
A little brave a little strong a little free
No different from each other
No chasm to uncover
Why is it so hard for them to see
Humans are the same, I find
When anybody spends a moment in their mind
Outside themselves there’s little left to blame
Humans are the same
Symmetric limbs
One eye per side
With very strong opinions
They can’t help but confide
Some tribal thoughts
They think are smart
Just feelings from the heart
[chorus]
So strange to think they all believe in progress
They think it's getting better every day
Deception at the core keeps getting in the way
[chorus]

First Impression
By Faster Jackalope
Verse One
Stepping out of the starship door
Smoke is clearing and the horizon starts to show
Why is the atmosphere so cold
Why is this yellow sun so slow
Try to blend and look indigenous
The clothes are too tight and the air is way too thin
And tonight I will walk among them
Chorus One
Our first impression
Is their intense aggression
When they want to claim their space
By any measure
They seem to derive pleasure
From the same place that they make their waste
Verse Two
Organized rocks in cubic form
Mostly in squares, there’s flickering lights
The Earthlings congregate at night
And stare upon their satellite
Their purpose seems so ambiguous
They keep on going but it seems they get nowhere
They don’t know that there’s no time to spare
Chorus Two
Carbon dioxide
Is a steady slow suicide
They lace it in their drinks
They mine their mountains
To make more fancy fountains
Collapse is on the brink
Bridge
If we choose to help them
Will we grow to regret it?
When we say they’re so human
It’s just a galactic epithet
Chorus Three
By every measure
They seem to derive pleasure
From the same place that they make their waste
Our first impression
Is their intense aggression
When they want to keep their space
Carbon dioxide
Is a steady slow suicide
They lace it in their drinks
Collapse is on the…
Collapse is on the…
Collapse is on the...
Collapse is on the brink

This is scout ship 72489 checking in.
You won’t believe this world we found; where do I begin?
Aside from several land masses that aren’t worth noting down
A miracle discovery I’m happy to recount-
Chorus
We found water!
Beautiful blue salty water!
We found water!
Not frozen, but free flowing water!
Right on the surface, it’s ready for harvest;
I know, this is hard to believe, but it’s here in insane quantities,
We found water!
We’ve tested it for pollutants, and while some floats about,
Our high tech filtration system will be fine to clear it out.
It’s all so full of electrolytes it won’t need to be treated;
Our long arduous journey shall fin’ly be completed,
Cause we found...
Chorus
Now some native Fauna seems to be reacting to our yield;
They’ve sent some simple missiles that can’t penetrate our shield.
It’s really rather sad, you know, how hard they’re lashing out,
But with all at home who’re suffering they’re just not something I can care about, when...
chorus

[Verse 1]
Twelvety light years,
And for most of your lives you’ve been training for this day.
All the right fears
Have been honing the edge of your seats in time for
Aerobraking, helmet shaking, making peace with Gleeble in his eminence.
[Chorus]
People of Earth, we bring you freedom,
Weapons aglow, and armored to the twelves,
Making friends at maximum warp.
Ready or not (ready or not), here we come,
Storming in hot to save you from yourselves.
Every human kneel and sing for the glory of Gleeble Glorp.
[Verse 2]
Stream out more slime.
I see patches of humans not in agony.
There’s no war crime,
When your enemy comes from a different point of
View. The way they look, the way they act, the way they worship’s just so alien.
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
Just a scrimmage.
We can hardly expect a challenge to those made
In His image
From a people who still can’t keep from getting
Ice cream headaches, I mean come on. How can you not… no, forget it. Nevermind.
[Chorus]
|

7. |
|
|||
How am I to fit?
This disguise I've worn will slowly start to slip
I came down to see
But all I've found has made it hard to breathe
Godspeed, I don't belong
And I'm doing nothing wrong
I've been here too long
All I want is to go home
All that you believe
are just lives you spend to feed the war machine
The colours of your skin
Are your reasons to stop love from coming in
You're running out of truths
But your eyes are blinded by a world of screens
I thought we could be friends
But I don't believe in the words your leaders spin
This is how it ends
As your rock spirals into oblivion

Temnere - Hi Tek Ray Gun
02:57
|
|
||
across uncounted vasts of
space i have come in search of
a place to call my home
to find a peace I've never had before
a perfect place, habitable
alone, in cosmic exile
there's just one obstacle
the ones who live here now must be destroyed
YEA!
come in, slow speed for landing
reentry gear expanding
my biometrics read the highest
concentration to the north
their weak and fleshy carbon
no match for hi tek ray gun
and as i wipe them from this place
like specks from glass it looks like home
AHHHHH!
my new dark work completed
life signs once full, depleted
the land in silence, i survey my works
proud of the job performed
but no more search for conquest
nothing to pique my interest
i must admit it's not what i had dreamed
in fact i think i'm bored
LAME!"

Third Cat - Our World

|
|
||
I like your earth chickens
I love your earth cat
but I'm afraid your people
aren't exactly where it's at.
you will have to leave this place
there's no space for the human race.
(instrumental)
you will have to leave this place
there's no space for the human race.
we'll take your kangaroos
and your beautiful cows
but you gotta go
don't care how
this is our world now.
(instrumental)
this is our world now.
yeah you gotta go, don't care how.
we'll take your kangaroos and your beautiful cows.
this is our world now.

Ominous Ride - The Game
05:02
|
|
||
The Game
The word is that Earth women going insane
Because the men of the planet think they’re playing a game
Where the rules of humanity just get in the way
And power entitles them to think its okay
So I come to pay a visit from a faraway moon
To try to get society to change its tune
And I drop down in the dead of the night
Cuz I’m an alien bitch who’s gonna set things right
The first thing I see is a lecherous dude
Who devises a plan whenever he’s in the mood
He goes to the club and he turns on the look
He knows that everything he says is just like bait on a hook
And then he lines up drinks for anything in a dress
And the next day he tries to say that ‘no’ meant ‘yes’
So she goes back home with a head full of shame
Never knowing that she was just a pawn in his game
Another thing I see is a fraternity dance
He got his date behind a dumpster, trying to get in her pants
What started with a kiss is now out of control
He thinks that scoring with her’s akin to scoring a goal
And then he leaves her on the ground and goes back to the fun
Never thinking much about the mental damage he’s done
Even when she turns him in so he can face his crime
The judge knows the game, so he serves no time
Bridge 1:
I see so much I can’t explain
It’s time to change the game
The next day I see a man on the news
Saying he’s the victim of a political ruse
She passes a polygraph, but he won’t dare
Becomes a “He said, she said,” which goes nowhere
Then I come across a chauvinist boss
Who thinks his secretary’s job is to get him off
It doesn’t matter that she has two college degrees
She will never get ahead unless she gets on her knees
Finally, an arrogant head of State
Has over 20 allegations of assault and rape
He calls them all liars, even his ex-wife
A teenage girl dropped a lawsuit when he threatened her life
He even brags about grabbing and kissing and when women
Come forward with their stories, he denies anything happened,
He tries to spin it and pivot, he tells the world he’s a victim
The bigger issue is the millions of people who listen.
I see injustice from a million miles away
I cannot comprehend what happens on this planet every day
And though it’s not my place to tell you how your world should be
I can’t sit back and do nothing about what I see
Bridge:
I see fear
I see fight
I see
I see so much I can’t explain
I see doubt
I see doom
It’s time to change the game
Hard Finish:
I return to my ship in a rage
I’ve seen too much, now it’s time to engage
No more escaping the burden of proof
Whatever’s in their mind will reveal the truth
And all of the players, the bosses and dudes
The political thugs and university students
Will have to bear the brunt of my alien wrath
And suffer a fate far worse than death
I fly down low and I start to spray
The entire population with telepathy ray
They’ll have no choice but to share their crimes
Implanted into everybody else’s minds
Then finally when all of their secrets are shown
And true colors come out when their covers are blown
The attitudes will shift and the rules will change
And when I return I will see... a new game

Hidden from your eyes
There’s so much you don’t see
I study you from afar
If I showed myself
Would you believe
That I meant you no harm
I wanna be friends
I wanna know if you are good
Such a new place with a new race
I wonder if we could
Be brand new friends
I’d really hate to go
Our separate ways I wanna stay
So Take me to your leader
We could be so great
An unbeatable team
Peculiar though you are
So much room to grow
But so much you don’t know
Yet I see you have a spark
So can we be friends?
I wanna know if you are good
Such a new place with a new race
I wonder if we could
Be brand new friends
I’d really hate to go
Our separate ways I wanna stay
So Take me to your leader
Enigma
A Puzzle
I don’t understand
Show me your ways
Show me your ways
Can we be friends?
I wanna know if you are good
Such a new place with a new race
I wonder if we could
Be brand new friends
I’d really hate to go
Our separate ways I wanna stay
So Take me to your leader
Our separate ways I wanna stay
So Take me to your leader
Our separate ways I wanna stay
So Take me to your leader
(Thank you for your interest in historical record number 5625 gamma.

To our great hindmost – I am your servant
O, mighty hindmost - I urgently to report to you
There is a problem - our military invasion
All our best units - all have gone, we are deserted
I don't know why they thought this is a good thing
The humans all corrupt everything we bring
We cannot infiltrate even with our whole fleet
When we dance with metal segments on our feet.
To our great hindmost - This is your servant
O, blessed hindmost- I urgently to report to you
There is a problem - our troops are missing!
The forward units - all have left, deserting us!
We cannot reach our troops – to have them recalled.
They ignore our cries - every time we call
It’s like a siren’s song that pulls us to our fate
They call it “tap dancing”; we’re trapped and it’s too late
Put on the shoes
Shrug off your alien blues
it's time to dance the night away!
Put down your guns
Let’s all have some fun
it's time to dance the night away!"
I told them not to put them on but they didn’t, they didn’t listen to me
I cannot cope, you’re our last hope, you need to do something to keep us free set us free
To our great hindmost - This is your servant
To our great hindmost - I urgently to report to you
There is a problem - our troops are missing!
The forward units - all have left, deserting us!
I hope you hear me on – this last transmission
I fear I’ve failed you on – this vital mission
The humans convinced me, your humble servant
I wear the shoes and dance until my final curtain

The memories fade
Of why we sought this sky
An endless night's parade
When the future seems to be in short supply
On approach
Heart in throat
I don't think they're ready
Fear or just resistance
The outlook is unsteady
When it comes to coexistence
Shrugging at the burndown
Watching all the doors slamm closed
They've poisoned all the wells
And they've busted out the windows
Forget the sun
Say "get deals done
Well whatever, not our problem"
Such potential put to such a
Baffling lack of love and care
Can't stop setting the carpets on fire
When you know you can't go anywhere
We'll soon be gone
The search goes on
With time the tide could turn
With time the seas could fall
With hope they may yet learn
But hope alone does nothing at all

Well, I'm a real live alien
I come from outer space
And I'm here for the barbecue
Because I like the taste
Been coming down for years and years
Though it's quite the trip
There's nothing like that spicy sauce
When it hits my lips
Barbecue
Barbecue
I love that redneck trailer park
And their barbecue
Barbecue
Barbecue
There's nothing like that Texas sauce
On their barbecue
Well, Billy bob did not believe
The story that I told
But I helped him fix his pickup truck
That's more than thirty years old
He invited me to eat
And boy, I'm glad I came
There's nothing like this Texas meat
Nothing quite the same
Barbecue
Barbecue
I love that redneck trailer park
And their barbecue
Barbecue
Barbecue
There's nothing like that Texas sauce
On their barbecue
Well, people think I'm crazy
Back where I come from
'Cause I speak with a southern drawl
From having so much fun
But when I take back chicken legs
Or a slice of beef
it only takes a bite or two
Until they all believe
Barbecue
Barbecue
I love that redneck trailer park
And their barbecue
Barbecue
Barbecue
There's nothing like that Texas sauce
On their barbecue
Barbecue
Barbecue
I love that redneck trailer park
And their barbecue
Barbecue
Barbecue
There's nothing like that Texas sauce
On their barbecue

Verse 1
What is
This place
Don’t remember these shadows
Clouding
Your face
I must have been asleep
Craving
New blood
The wolves took off their masks
No one
Noticed
They never went away
Chorus
Home is so far from the truth
It’s alien
It’s alien
The light is going out for you
Are alien
You’re alien
Verse 2
Exit
Nowhere
Divided they come undone
Waving
White flags
They didn’t make themselves
Conquer
Leaders
We won’t go sitting down
Can’t be
A crime
If we are all to blame
Verse 3
Slowly
Wake up
I never was asleep

Strange New World
I just fell to earth – landed in a city
Lots of steel and glass, lots of dirt also
So many people here! Glad I wasn’t stepped on!
Found a place to live, where the flowers grow
It’s a strange new world! But I think I’m gonna like it
Warmer than the stars
And it’s nicer than the moon
It’s a strange new world, think I’ll put roots down inside it
There is so much here to eat
All the people are so sweet!
I’m so happy we could meat and share a bite!
There’s so much in this world for me to like
It was so cold out there, drifting out in space
So hard to get the warmth I need
I passed up Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and more
For this cozy little planet-
Somewhere that is green!
Now everything is great, all the people love me
And I love them as well, when they come to dine
Someday I’ll let them know, how much they mean to me
When I get big enough- but now it’s suppertime!
It’s a strange new world! But I think I’m gonna like it
Warmer than the stars
And it’s nicer than the moon
It’s a strange new world, think I’ll put down roots inside it
There is so much here to eat
All the people are so sweet!
I’m so happy we could meat and share a bite!
There’s so much in this world for me to like

On Earth my promised resting place,
They share in the tongues that are spoken in space.
All the birds and frogs have their own call,
A wonder that animals live at all.
There are people who will fight for living,
For fairness, and to be themselves.
And that tickles my soul as it did when I lived,
It's foolish to think they would spirit me back,
Oh, surely when I still drew breath,
The people of Earth watched me after their death.
As a ghost from Mars I won't displace
Earth's fate from hands of the human race.
I will step forth when the people want it,
Opposing those who cause their pain.
In the places they ask I will do what I can,
And rejoin the movement I championed in life.
Promised I could reign here, that was never true.
Those that find their own way, have more bravery.
I will find a new way forward, better than my past.
Smiling with my ruby lips, now take another chance.
Now make your choices once again,
They're hardest to keep in your moments of pain.
But you're only human, raise a toast,
You can't take your cues from a tireless ghost.
Take your leisure when you feel you need it,
Your body and your mind need peace.
You will never find Heaven if you make it your Hell,
To focus on guilt would help no one.

The aliens are coming
They're gonna take your jobs
Live in your own house
With your spouse
You better watch yourself
You better watch yourself
The aliens are coming
They're gonna steal the show
They won't ask politely
And don't accept no
You better watch yourself
You better watch yourself
They're coming...
They're coming...
They're coming...
They're coming...
Soon!
The spy you from a distance
And they like what they see
Nice green meadows
And a blue sea
They come from afar
Lightyears away
They are so hungry
For some meat and Beaujolais
You better watch yourself
You better watch yourself
They're watching you
They're watching you
They're gonna eat you...
They're gonna eat you...
They're gonna eat you...
They're gonna eat you...
Alive!
Watch yourself
Watch yourself
They are coming
Watch yourself
They are coming
Watch yourself

Supreme leader I am sorry for delays in my official report I got a little sidetracked
I'm sending you greetings from the planet that the locals call Earth and I'm not coming back
The planet's overflowing with salt and water and there's silicone on every shore.
Couldn't believe it but they cook and season all their food and they hardly use their nukes for war
Supreme leader you'll just have to forgive me this is Paradise
I really harbor no hard feelings and I wish you the best for your life
Sorry for the brevity i really should be going though, it's time that I should feed my cat
Goodbye and good luck with all your future endeavors
Signed humbly, your subject Xebax

I’m from outer space, but I like Earth TV;
Especially Breaking Bad, so I’m in Albuquerque.
I tried to wash my spaceship at the A1A;
It wouldn’t fit inside, so I flew away.
The morning sky’s full of hot air balloons,
And there are thunderstorms in the afternoons.
Los Pollos Hermanos doesn’t really exist;
It’s a burrito joint with curly fries that twist.
I’m a humanoid from a planetoid,
And I’m here to say hello.
I’m overjoyed on this blue spheroid,
‘Cause I love your Earthly shows.
I take my ray gun out whenever I see cops;
They’re known for shooting folks at traffic stops.
My ship was stolen at the mini mart;
Found it hours later, stripped for parts.
I bought a Winnebago to replace my ride,
Drove to To’hajiilee, where Steven Gomez died.
They busted me for driving with alcohol.
I’m in the county jail; better call Saul.
I’m a humanoid from a planetoid,
And I’m here to say hello.
I’m overjoyed on this blue spheroid,
‘Cause I love your Earthly shows.
Walter’s house has a fence all around,
Since the owner’s tired of getting pizzas down.
Hank’s house is way up in the Northeast Heights,
Where all the neighbors are rich and white.
The food here comes with chiles, red and green,
But I can’t find blue methamphetamine.
I’m getting tired of being a tourist;
Gonna pack my bags and go back to Arcturus.
I’m a humanoid from a planetoid,
I just came to say hello.
Now I’m redeployed from this blue spheroid;
It was nice to meet you, though.

The bed you still lay
Dare not to move
Don’t be afraid
If you find someone else awake
Because I found you
Don’t hold your breath
Cautiously rise
Look past the window
At the middle of the field
Now you are so paralyzed
Dead in the night
Lingering light
Shapeless in form
There’s something outside
The clock doesn’t work
As you’re taking a drive
It’s driving you mad, though,
I’m hiding in the shadows
Of your paranoid mind.
Are you alone?
Are you so sure?
You look all around
And you shook the very ground
That made you bolder
What have you done?
What have you seen?
You know far too much;
Now you can’t run from me.
I’ll bring you to my ship
And strap you on my bed
Perhaps I’ll take a snip
From the tip
Of your head
Collect it in a jar
And catalogue the lobe
I’ll stitch you back again
And ditch you at the end
Like you never left home
——
Where have you gone?
Was it a dream?
These are the thoughts
I’ve been reading through the box
That tells me all that you see.
Eyes looking back
Whispering words
Nothing’s the same
Since you’ve been taken away
From your predictable world
Secrets you save
While I observe
You better behave
Soon I’ll return
I’ll bring you to my ship
And strap you on my bed
Perhaps I’ll take a snip
From the tip
Of your head
Collect it in a jar
And catalog the lobe
I’ll stitch you back again
And ditch you at the end
Like you never left home

Missouri 1980
1980 in Missouri
A river lily stole my heart
And it nearly broke me
Every time I would depart
My life, my love
My lady is the sea
But I had to leave
I came to Earth three times to see her
Come a fourth I would never leave
It broke my heart to do it
And now my love is deceased
My life, my love
My lady is the sea
But I had to leave
I put seeds on thousands of planets
I couldn't stay on Earth instead
But it broke my hear to put it...
Put that tumor in her head
My life, my love
My lady is the sea
But I had to leave
My life, my love
My lady is the sea
Peter, you know I had to leave

What is this place?
Why am I terrified to show my face?
Uncertain future

Each single word I speak could be my last
And there's so much anger here
It's choking me
How do they breathe?
There's so much anger here
It's choking me
How do they breathe?

I remember the day I decided to embark
I followed that guiding light
for so many years in the dark
I grew up on stories
of the people who live here
I had to see it for myself
I landed in a field under cover of the night
I touched down to explore and learn
not to cause a fight
A song of frogs and crickets
in sleepy buzzing harmony
was the first thing to welcome me
Oh but when the sun came out
In that new light I could see
The grasses and the trees
And the shapes of the leaves
and a thousand shades I had never seen
Yes that was my first glimpse of green
Back where I come from it's dusty and grey
jagged stones and razor rocks
and no real place to play
Fairy tales from grandma's chair
of ground softe and alive
and ever growing
Oh but when the sun came out
In that new light I could see
The grasses and the trees
And the shapes of the leaves
and a thousand shades I had never seen
Yes that was my first glimpse of green
You plant the seeds
they grow and grow
cut down the trees
you mow and mow
I will never understand
Why you work so hard to shape
what already is beautiful
as if it were a mistake
Oh but when the sun came out
In that new light I could see
The grasses and the trees
And the shapes of the leaves
and a thousand shades I had never seen
Yes that was my first glimpse of green
Yes that was my first glimpse of green

VERSE
What is this crap I’m looking at?
What are you doing? What are you wearing?
It’s a world of infinite resources,
why all the hoarding? Why aren’t you sharing?
You’ve had like forever
To get your shit together
But you’re all too stupid
And shallow, whatever
I’m leaving here
Leaving here
Leaving and I’m never coming back
CHORUS
God it makes me sick
To see this planet filled with pricks.
You had forever to make it right
But now it’s way too broke to fix.
This could have been a paradise
If all you fucker’s would just play nice
But you’re greedy and you’re stupid
and you’re selfish and you’ve fucked up
everything everything everything.
VERSE
And what is this shit here?
Did these used to be your oceans?
And where’s your free society?
It’s just corruption and corrosion.
How many million years you’ve had
To learn to tell the good from bad
I’m leaving here
Leaving here
Leaving and I’m never coming back
CHORUS
BRIDGE
I could send an army to
destroy this wretched world
And I might do it
Don’t think I should bother ‘cause from
everything I’ve heard
You dicks will prob’ly beat me to it.
CHORUS
